Megan,

I watched the Larry King Live program he had on Autism a couple weeks ago. One of the speakers said that AutismSpeaks.com is a source for what is happening with Autism in research, etc. I was surprised to hear that one in every 94 boys has Autism. It's an epidemic.

I wish we were closer to help you with you new/old house. That's a lot of work. I'll look forward to seeing your blog and how all the hard work is paying off. Good Luck! and tell Jason "Hello".

Another special ed teacher and I are doing a big thing about Autism Awareness this month. We work closely with the Autism Society too. We just started a coffee shop for teachers at my school (mini-Starbucks)for the rest of the year. A local coffeeshop is the actual owner and has supplied us with all equipment and supplies. Teachers can order daily, by the week, or walk in. We have turned the class into a lounge (couch and chairs). The artwork decor is supplied by the art students. 50% of the money goes back into our occupational diploma program and our students are learning job skills! Teachers are coming and spending time with our special students. I'm so excited!
