Thirteen Things about TODAY

1. Today, Jason jumped his last official Army paratrooper jump. He was the only one in the sky when he jumped and it went perfectly (except that he landed across the street from the drop zone). I missed it by five minutes. :(

2. Today, I received the packet of paperwork that enrolls George in preschool and moved the final meeting up by several days. He'll start next Wednesday.

3. Today, Emma is wearing a purple shirt, brown peasant skirt, multi-colored striped tights, and sparkley red shoes. She looks fabulous!

4. Today, I'm having a good hair day. Hey, believe me, that's worth mentioning!

5. Today, I need to make some kind of casserole with some leftover cooked chicken. Any ideas?

6. Today, I challenged my blog pals to do the Thursday Thirteen. I didn't realize how challenging that was until I started to write my own!

7. Today, I WILL do the three loads of laundry that really need to be done!

8. Today, is a gorgeous day and I really want the kids to be outside, but it's been raining for the last couple of days and the ground is muddy and everything is soaked and I really don't feel like dealing with the mess. (Whew, English teachers must love my sentences!)

9. Today, having been home less than an hour, George has dumped out onto the playroom floor two toy boxes of blocks, his entire collection of Thomas trains, and assorted Fisher Price people. He's currently sitting up on the couch playing with a shoe.

10. Today, Emma made me walk her into the school building instead of using the drop off lane. But, after parking and crossing the parking lot with her and George, she saw a friend and ran off with a casual "Bye Mom!" Sigh. Glad to see I'm needed.

11. Today, after Jason left the house around 4:30am, Gracie (the dog) felt the need to join me on the bed. She's nice and warm, but she hogs the covers.

12. Today, I need to call my cousin and get a new picture of her beautiful baby, so I can finish a Christmas present for our grandma.

13. Today, I will make a new list of blog prompts, so I don't ever feel the need to use this one again! Who knew that 13 would be such a big number?!

LOL Meg
I thought it was fun...but I did have to come back to it about 10 times over a few hours!!!

The one about George dumping his toys make me laugh out loud...I can relate with two under 3 yrs old.

Georgina (8 mths old) has about 20 toys all around her and chooses to put my slippers in her mouth instead!

I sooooo understand how great a good hair day can be! And I didn't think 13 was alot, either, until I started writing.

What a great thirteen. Congrats to Jason on his last "official" jump and to George for starting preschool. Emma is so growing up.

A co-worker told me that she had mixed potates (I presume boiled or baked and cubed); vegetables (she used cauliflower and broccoli); chicken and italian dressing; heat and serve. I think I would sprinkle fresh parmesan over the top, but it did sound easy and yummy.

Nothing beats a good hair day! As an English teacher, I still loved #8 because you aren't my student and it feels good to not have to worry about grammar or spelling and enjoy what others are writing so thanks for sharing! lol

LOL - maybe you can make a list of 13 blog prompts! Or maybe 13 things to do with leftover chicken!

I know that this is WAY too late to help you, but I have a great use for left over chicken (or not-leftover, LOL, I made it tonight starting from raw) and you can always use it the next time you have left over chicken

Green Chili Enchiladas
1 lb of chicken cooked and cut up (I have even used canned chicken)
1 small can of green chilies
1 block of cream cheese
1 can of green chili enchilada sauce (if you use the "Old El Paso" brand, the exact recipe is on the lable)
flour tortillas
shredded cheddar (I use the pre-shredded mexican blend)

Put the chicken, cream cheese, and chilies in a pan and cook over medium heat until cream cheese is melted. Remove from heat, spoon chicken mixture into tortillas, roll up (don't worry about burrito style or anything, I always leave the ends open) and place into a casserole seam side down. Pour enchilada sauce over and sprinkle with cheddar.

Place in a 425 degree over for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cheddar is melted.

HTH

I liked the prompt. 13 was a stretch, and it took all day off and on to reach it but was fun. I love your number 9? where George dumps everything out and plays with a shoe lol - my house exactly!!!
